"Up Until Now" Writing Workshop

Writing can be an incredibly powerful tool to utilize as you move through loss and change. It can help process unconscious and conscious thoughts and lead to a peaceful release of emotional stress. 

Gaining clarity about how loss and grief have impacted whom you have become today can be an incredible journey of self-discovery. Telling your story and discovering who you are as you face the unknown of tomorrow can be a beautiful experience. Writing about loss and grief can improve your dialogue with yourself and with others, help you let go of pain and allow you to explore "Who you are, in this present moment."

This 52-week course is led by Advanced Grief Recovery Specialists and Mindfulness Practitioners Lisa Bruff and Bill AuCoin. It will allow you to tell your story with a richer understanding of how loss and change can be a powerful experience that teaches us how important living in the present can be.

What is included in this course:

  • 52 lessons (1 per week) to help you explore your relationship with change

  • Each lesson provides you with information and thought-provoking writing prompts to inspire you.  Lessons will vary in format weekly

  • Explore how  grief arises from the loss of one or more of the deep-seated human needs for Identity, Meaning, Purpose and Territorial Belonging

  • Explore the language we use to express loss and change

  • The use writing as a tool to explore resilience in ourselves and our loved ones

  • Provide listening and communication tips for moving forward in the 

  • Introduction to thought-provoking books and videos

The Goal of this Workshop

This workshop will challenge you to think about change - the one constant in our lives. It is not a workshop filled with loss and grief but rather one filled with emotion, love, and reflection.  It will challenge you to write about loss, change, grief, communication, and our deep-seated human needs, just to name a few. As we move through our writing we will see our story emerge.  With the tools learned in this course, you will complete a collection of personal writing that you can use however you like. Perhaps someday you will write your life's journey and this work will help with that.




How does it work?


Upon enrollment, you will receive access to your first lesson and every week for 52 weeks a new lesson will open up to you. (a total of 52 lessons).  If you miss a lesson, no need to worry, each lesson will conveniently remain in your LearnWorlds account so you won't have to search for it when you're ready to get back to it. Note that the amount you write each week is also at your discretion. Sometimes it will be a 500-word essay and other times it will be one powerful line that changes your life.





Bruff and Associates are educational consultants and the tools offered here are intended to provide participants with information that can lead to emotional and spiritual growth. This workshop is a guided journal writing experience and should not be used in replacement of any counselling or doctor-led treatments.
